Before You Book
Before booking your appointment, we recommend reviewing the information below.
Here you’ll find answers to our most frequently asked questions regarding treatments,
healing, bookings, and policies — to help you feel informed and confident.
If you can’t find the information you’re looking for, feel free to contact us directly via Instagram or WhatsApp.
1. How does the consultation process work before treatment?
All consultations are conducted via message (Instagram DM or WhatsApp),
and we do not offer separate in-person consultation appointments.
Before booking, clients are welcome to attach photos and ask any questions via message.
We are happy to discuss concerns in detail, and if needed, we may request additional reference photos to help determine the most suitable treatment approach.
On the day of your appointment, we take time to discuss the design and colour in person.
All decisions are made together with the client, and treatment only begins once you feel fully informed, comfortable, and have given your approval.
This collaborative consultation and treatment process is one of the key reasons for Barim’s high client satisfaction, repeat bookings, and referrals.
2. How long does cosmetic tattoo last?
Cosmetic tattooing is a treatment that is designed to fade over time and should not be permanent.
Beauty trends typically change every 5–10 years, and tattoos that do not noticeably soften after several years may have been implanted at a depth and intensity similar to body tattoos.
In fact, many clients seek laser removal due to older eyebrow tattoos that have not faded as expected.
Longevity varies depending on skin type, age, and lifestyle, but most importantly, it is also perceived differently based on individual preference.
For example, even when the same amount of colour remains,
one person may feel the result still looks natural and acceptable,
while another may feel it has almost completely faded.
At Barim, we focus on cosmetic tattoo results that soften naturally with time.
From the day of treatment, pigment gradually lightens in line with the skin’s natural regeneration cycle.
For those who wish to maintain more defined colour throughout this process, periodic touch-ups can be used to refresh and enhance the colour.
From the day of treatment, the pigment gradually lightens through the skin’s natural healing and regeneration process.
Our goal is a soft, natural fade over time rather than long-term saturation.
Generally, results soften and fade naturally around the 1-year mark,
with longevity varying from approximately 6 months to 3 years depending on skin type, lifestyle, and individual perception.
3. How much colour remains after healing?
After healing, approximately 50–70% of the colour remains naturally.
This is a normal part of the skin’s recovery process.
At Barim, we follow a modern, natural aesthetic philosophy and avoid leaving overly bold or heavy colour from the first session.
Our focus is on results that age gracefully with the skin.
4. Is a touch-up required?
If the colour and shape are well retained, a touch-up is not mandatory.
Many of our clients are very happy with their initial results and choose to skip the optional touch-up session, which is usually scheduled 1–2 months after the first treatment.
However, as pigment naturally softens and fades over time, some clients choose to return for additional treatment later on.
For this reason, Barim offers tiered touch-up pricing based on time elapsed.
From a professional perspective, we recommend assessing the fully healed result approximately one month after the last session.
If around 50% of the base colour remains, a touch-up is best performed before the pigment has completely faded.
This approach helps minimise unnecessary repeat treatments, reduces skin trauma, and allows the results to remain refined and long-lasting.
Recommended maintenance intervals:
-
Brows / Lips: every 1.5–2 years
-
Eyeliner: every 3 years
5. When is Lip Neutralisation necessary?
Unlike lipstick, lip tattoo pigment sits within the skin and blends with your natural lip colour.
If the natural lip tone is darker or uneven (such as brown, grey, purple, or bluish undertones), applying a desired colour directly may not produce optimal results.
In these cases, Lip Neutralisation is recommended.
This process helps balance the underlying tone before building toward the target colour.
If neutralisation is required, corrective pigments are incorporated into the treatment.
Results are monitored together, and further colour layering can be done through additional sessions if desired.
6. What is the downtime after treatment?
Most treatments involve minimal swelling and little to no bleeding.
Depending on individual sensitivity, mild swelling may occur for eyeliner or lip treatments for a few days, but significant reactions are uncommon.
During the first week, colour may appear brighter or stronger than expected due to the fresh pigment and healing process.
Once healing is complete, the colour softens into a more natural tone.
If you have an important event, we recommend booking your treatment at least 1–2 weeks in advance.
7. I have old tattoo residue. Can I achieve a natural result?
Cosmetic tattooing adds pigment to the skin, so making an existing tattoo lighter is generally not possible.
Covering old pigment with lighter colours often requires dense application, which can appear unnatural and may heal unevenly.
If noticeable pigment remains, we recommend waiting for further fading where possible.
For tattoos that are several years old and no longer fading, laser removal may be required to partially lift the existing colour before re-tattooing for a clean, natural result.
8. How do I book, and can I choose my artist?
All bookings are appointment-only.
Each artist at Barim has a distinct style and approach.
We encourage you to review each artist’s work on Instagram and contact the artist whose aesthetic best aligns with your preferences.
Bookings and enquiries are accepted exclusively via Instagram DM or WhatsApp.
